Tell Your Dentist About the Reflux Too
Reflux can expose teeth to stomach acid. Discuss symptoms, medicines and enamel wear with your dentist while getting help for the underlying reflux.

Connect the two conversations
Stomach acid reaching the mouth can contribute to enamel erosion. The ADA advises working with a physician on recurrent reflux and seeing a dentist to assess and protect the teeth. Sensitivity alone does not tell you whether reflux is the cause.[1]
Tell the dental team about symptoms, their timing and any medicines you take. Include nighttime reflux or a persistent sour taste if present. Ask whether the examination shows wear and what other causes need to be considered.
Get a prevention plan for your mouth
Ask about suitable toothpaste, what to do after acid exposure and how to manage any dryness. The ADA notes that saliva helps neutralize acid and that some medicines can contribute to dry mouth. A product recommendation should fit the whole history.[1]
Keep the medical follow-up for the underlying symptoms. Avoid repeatedly adding home remedies or changing a prescription because your teeth feel sensitive. Record which changes occur and bring them to both teams so the dental and medical plans support each other.
